Patchwork Pals Wednesday 22nd May 2024

22nd May 2024 Meeting of Patchwork Pa ls Another excellent meeting- with stitching and chat in equal measure.  Pat has been very busy- she has completed the Butterfly cushion, she has also made those lovely pouches/purses- I hope that she shares the pattern. She has also been working on her Crochet with a little help from her friends (Julie and Janet).  Hexi Panels-  Janet is putting together a hexie style quilt.     These were “inherited” hexies from another party.     I think the idea of placing them on a square background is a great idea! Joy's Seahorse- the work with metal threads is stunning and it is coming along beautifully.          Julie was playing with the stems on her turned applique.     Being only ¼” wide, they were exceptionally fiddly! Don't forget to get in touch if you would like to know more about our meetings.

SWF Patchwork Pals - Saturday 11 May 2024

Another productive Saturday at the WI Hall for the SWF Patchwork Pals.  Here’s what the group have been up to. Joy is making a larger sized version of her teddy bear.  Unfortunately her machine doesn’t want to cooperate so a lot of the seams had to be stitched twice! Sarah’s embroidery project is coming on a treat. Sarah (Jarvis) is putting the finishing touches to her quilt - it’s looking really good. Carol has been making “hexies” for a long time - but she’s not sure yet how she will make them up.  The second photo shows them looking like a tumbling block!   Julie was experimenting with needle turned appliqué.  This was done using Appliquick tools from a workshop that she took the day before.  These are the flower heads and she is going to add some stems. Carol has also been busy (when she’s not making hexies!) making a baby quilt using scraps.  It looks lovely. Anne used Julie’s method with the “cash register till rolls” to make scrap columns. ...

Once we had all settled down, Pat spoke to the group to outline some plans for the future- please keep checking the blog for details. She did share that we would be having a mystery speaker on Saturday 14th December - so all groups save the date!  Please also keep looking out for a skill builder post soon- appliqué- something you might want to try and then bring along to your next group meeting.  Now- down to the meeting- there was loads going on. Val's stunning baby quilt- the detail is beautiful  Crochet Station for anyone who wanted to try a new skill  Jenny went out of her comfort zone and produced this lovely appliqué piece during a retreat.  Joy's daisy picture- she and Germaine had a long conversation about this one.
